In 2007, Ram Gopal Varma tried to recreate 'Sholay' under the name 'Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag'. But this was completely rejected by the audience. The film was a failure at the box office.

Sippy's 'Sholay' starred Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Hema Malini and Jaya Bachchan. The film is mainly remembered for Amjad Khan's brilliant acting and dialogues, he became the film's staunch villain dacoit Gabbar Singh.
