Oscar Awards Change Rules Will Include Ott Films And Shows Due To Coronavirus

Movies are being released directly to OTT due to theaters closed due to Corona virus. Will remain in force till the Oscars ceremony in 2021

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which presented awards to cinema around the world, has made a major decision for next year's Oscar ceremony. Keeping in mind the current state of the world, Oscar has also announced to bring the films released on the digital platform to the Oscars this year. He believes that this year, due to the closure of theaters due to corona virus, the films are released directly on OTT, due to which the decision has been taken.

The condition for any film to go to the Oscars was that the same film could claim an Oscar nomination that stayed at a theater in Los Angeles for at least seven days. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has decided to make this change for this year only, which will only be applicable until the Oscars ceremony in 2021. A statement issued by Oscar said, "The Academy is aware that it is not a pleasure to watch any film as it gets in the theater." Our commitment to it is unwavering and unchanged. It cannot change. But Looking at the current situation, we have made this change in a volatile way so that the award reaches those who deserve it. '

Significantly, when the lockdown was implemented in India, around the same time the lockdown was announced in the entire United Nations. Due to this, the release and shooting of big Hollywood films are also currently closed. America's three largest movie theaters AMC, Regal and Cinemark have also stated in their statements that they will open their theaters only after June or July.
