  • Rating: **

The audience of the Hindi belt still remembers Priyamani seen in director Mani Ratnam's film Ravana Ki. She had a wonderful dance with Shahrukh Khan in Chennai Express. And, recently, Lala Manoj Bajpayee from Bihar was also well received in Prime Video's amazing series The Family Man. She will soon be seen in its second season and will also be seen in the film Maidan alongside Ajay Devgan, the whole story is here as the place of a heroine like Priyamani in Hindi cinema has always been vacant. From the era of Vyjayanthimala to Sridevi. It is an attempt to cash in on these aspirations of Hindi cinema audiences.

The film's name is Past and one of its three main characters is also named. Obviously, the more strange a person's name sounds, the more strange the naming of this film is. Those who may have seen Raj Kapoor's film Sangam will remember that if his wife marries another wife and returns after military retreat. Prabhakar Shukla also made a sensitive film Kahani Gudiya on one such incident during the Kargil conflict.

Here Priyamani is in doll-like condition. The past is her previous husband's name and Biswa is today's husband. There is also a daughter. The plot of the story is the same as it was in Sangam, just here, director Tanuj has given a horror thriller on it. But, the film does not try to scare the audience. Nor did its producers show any budget that could produce special effects that would be intimidating. The film is not technically excellent nor will it ever be counted among the best films of Sanjay Suri and Rajiv Khandelwal. Both of them did their work like that.

The film can be watched for two full hours in the East and only for Priyamani. Although the constant tension on his face could have been avoided in some scenes but the director kissed him. The song sung by Yasir Desai in the film, Mohabbat Kar Hum Hai, Juda Bhi Hamko Ho Gaya, may remind you that it was necessary to break Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's song as well. The length of the film is much longer, according to the digital release it would have been a better film if it had been done for one and a half hours.
